J.J. is a passionate advocate for victims while always pursuing justice. He has extensive courtroom experience. Prior to joining Thad L. Myers, P.A. and Associates, he spent eight years representing the State of South Carolina as an Assistant Solicitor of the Fifth Judicial Circuit. While still working as an Assistant Solicitor, he also spent three years concurrently representing the United States as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.

As an Assistant Solicitor, J.J. handled the prosecution of violent crimes. He experienced success in the courtroom, obtaining convictions in jury trials ranging from trafficking drugs to murder. He also successfully argued several Stand Your Ground hearings.

As a Special Assistant United States Attorney, J.J. was involved in Operation Ceasefire and getting weapons out of violent offenders' hands and off the streets. He also helped to identify target individuals for Project Safe Neighborhood.

J.J. is an annual speaker at the Summary Court Judges Conference where he teaches on several different areas of law. In 2016, the United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina presented J.J. with the John R. Justice Community Leadership Award, which is given annually to a South Carolina solicitor in recognition of outstanding leadership in the community. He takes great pride in giving back to the youth in our community. He has been a speaker at Protecting Our Youth Through Legal Education that educates at-risk high school students and current mock trial coach at St. Joseph's Catholic School.  J.J. was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2021.
